How many times in life have you asked yourself or someone else that very question? It doesn’t matter what it was about, but if you are like the rest of us, at some point in time you have been asked that question about something. Sometimes it worked – it got you off the fence to make a decision one way or the other so you could get on with your life.
Should I or shouldn’t I takes so much time and energy, and yet many folks just stay stuck in indecision, a form of fear. Fear of making the wrong choice. Fear about unknown future outcomes that they have no control over or any idea of what will happen or will not happen. Hmmm – welcome to life!
So, what do we do you ask? You educate yourself the best you can and then you make a decision. Yup, that’s it, that’s all, no secret path or handshake or mantra. Now, reread the second sentence in this paragraph, focus on the fifth word. That’s right, “best” you can, not perfect, not all knowing, not written in granite, just the “best you can”. Once you have really digested that, then go to the last part of that same sentence, “you make a decision.” For it is in the decision that gives us power, not the doing; the doing is just the by-product. Now, here’s the best part of all of this. Once you make a decision and act on it, you get to keep making more decisions! That’s right, whether the decision turns out workable and wonderful or turns out not so workable or wonderful, you still get to make decisions around all the new questions and issues. Life is ongoing and to live a fully expressed life you will always be making choices to direct your life the “best” you can. No right, no wrong, just the best you can.
So, what does this have to do with real estate? Everything! Whether you’re sitting on the fence about buying, selling, upsizing, or downsizing, on and on —- “what are you waiting for?” Educate yourself. There is so much available at your fingertips nowadays on the internet, it makes learning the terminology and basics very simple. Then, find yourself a long time, experienced, real estate professional that is willing to sit with you and share their wealth of knowledge. You can read and read, but hands on experience will always take you to the next level of wisdom. Take advantage of those who know and know that they know.
Interest rates are at that proverbial low and contrary to the mass belief that you can’t get a loan – yes you can. Lenders are more than happy to loan you money to buy a home if you qualify. The market sucks – only for those who are uneducated. Location is always the key – some areas have already bottomed out and other areas will continue to drop a little – again, education and experience.
Half Empty vs. Half Full – Fear or Faith about your decisions, you have already chosen….. But hey – right now – you get to choose again!
